Sir Chris Bonington - Patron of the Cumbrian Mountain Festival 2002 - he presided over the opening at Rheged on 17th April.

He has signed three books along with Doug Scott - these will be auctioned off at the Wasdale Head Hotel equipment auction 7th September 2002.

We are hoping that Chris and Doug might take up their invite to attend.

Cheque for £500 from the local lads who did a raft race from Wastwater to the Santon Bridge Inn to raise money for the team.  They did it on April 1st!

WMRT display boards which will be replaced as part of the IYM improvements funded by the grant from Cumbria Community Foundation.
Julian Carradice, Team Leader talks to two visitors about resuscitation.  Behind him is a manikin, wired up to the Automatic External Defibrillator.  The AED is life saving equipment carried by the team for kick starting a casualty whose heart has failed.

The book stall, set up by Alison Strafford and stocked with some really great classic books passed to Ali and Ian by a friend.  Some of these have been signed by Cris Bonington and Doug Scott, cornered at the opening of the Cumbria Mountain Festival 2002 and encouraged to sign the books.
The Campions - Peggy looked after the Tea & Cakes (next year they can bring the little one - expected soon)

postscript - Peggy had a little boy 4 days later - 9lbs 13 oz - congratulations Peggy and Adam

IYM launch at Rheged 17 April 2002
Representatives from most of the 13 teams in the Lake District pose for the camera whilst holding up the new Kodak outdoor, waterproof disposable cameras handed out to the teams to test.

Not long after the last shot Tracey decided to take a fall so as not to hurt Mike's pride.
